Travel Hacks: Espresso and Go

First of all, an important tip for breakfast in Rome: it is very rare to have a large breakfast in Italy. Mostly you only get a "cornetto", i.e. a croissant, and an espresso - here it is important that you don't order an espresso, but simply a caffè. A "normal" coffee is called Caffè Americano. Check out our coffee guide in Trieste.

Attention: coffee at the bar. In Italy, it is common to drink your coffee standing up in the bar. In this case, the espresso costs about one euro. This is common for Italians: have a quick espresso at the bar and then go to work.

As a tourist, you tend to make the mistake of sitting down comfortably in a café, as you know it in Germany. But then it can happen - especially in Rome - that you have to pay a lot more. A breakfast consisting of panini and espresso can cost almost 10 euros per person.

Tip: To explore Rome and the many great sights of the city, we recommend the Go City Pass Rome. The pass gives you more money and time to eat ????.

4 L' Antica Pizzeria da Michele Trevi

The pizzeria, L' Antica Pizzeria da Michele Trevi, is located in a small side street right next to the Trevi Fountain and was recommended to us by Laura, our city guide in Rome.

And she was right - although the selection is quite small, the pizza tastes excellent. It's not necessarily cosy there either, but super authentic - there were only Italians sitting around us.

This small shop, Bonci Pizzarium, has been in Rome for a very long time, since 2003. Here you will find a huge selection of pizza slices that you can assemble however you like. This is a snack bar where you can just pick up the slices.

They all have one thing in common: they have the typical thick and crispy dough of Roman pizza. The pizzeria is so popular that there is always a long queue. Everyone wants to get a slice of Bonci Pizza. The place is closed on Mondays.
